Under $100: Best buys for November

Are you in winter mode yet? Better get ready, because it's coming.

We're in November, so it's time to start thinking about the holidays, but also about how to layer and keep warm with whatever unpredictable weather is headed our way. Our recommendations this month lean towards comfy—but that doesn't mean we're ditching sparkle, shine and our favourite beauty looks.

Here are our November shopping picks, all under $100.

Wrapped up

null

Long crossover dress, $70, zara.com.

There are few things more flattering than a wrap dress—and I aim to wear one to any holiday party I go to this season. This black and red number from Zara will go just as well with festive footwear and a red lip, as it will with combat boots and a maxi cardigan when I want to dress it down. – Alexandra Donaldson, fashion & beauty editor

Tuque time

null

Baboon falling toque, $55, aritzia.ca.

Some people call this time of year sweater weather but I much prefer labeling it tuque weather. I know wide-brim hats are the more fashionable option for this cooler weather head gear but I just adore a slouchy knit close-knit chapeau—it’s like the sartorial equivalent to a wig. – Julia McEwen, fashion & beauty director

Mad for plaid

null

Flannel blanket scarf, $26, oldnavy.ca.

There are few things I like more than a big blanket scarf when the temperatures dip. And since ‘tis the season of plaid, I’ll be adding to my collection with this classic blue and green pattern. – AD

Twinkle toes

null

Thayllan flats, $55, aldoshoes.com.

I’m extra. So I see nothing wrong with wearing a rose gold, sequin encrusted pair of smoking flats to run errands in, walk the dog or go to work. If you’re a sparkle-phob, or just not sure how to incorporate some shine into your wardrobe start with a pair of shiny flats, the metallic sheen is surprisingly versatile. - JM

Sleepytime set

null

Stripe ribbed PJ set, $75, gapcanada.ca.

In the lead up to the holidays it just seems right to pick up a new pair of PJs. Come Christmas morning, you’ll find me in this striped set, which comes with a matching sleep mask too! – AD

Balms away

null

French Kiss balm, $26, cadualie.com.

I’m a sucker for a tinted balm, and the latest on my must-try list is this option from Caudalie. With aloe vera, a light vanilla scent and a sheer pink hue, this is a one-step wonder for taking care of your pout. – AD

Body talk

null

Glossier Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream, $27, glossier.com.

We all know that Glossier is known for their signature glowy skin, for the face. But as of last month they launched their first body products, aptly titled body hero. I have extraordinarily dry skin, I’m talking reptile levels of dryness and this pepto-pink tube of cream quickly melts into my skin for all-day hydration, while leaving behind a yummy smell and a brilliant glow. - JM

Swipe right

null

Lipikar Stick AP+, $16, laroche-posay.ca.

Do you have painfully dry skin or eczema flare-ups? Is it triggered by the change in season or perhaps thermostats being cranked? Me too. When this stick from La Roche-Posay landed on my desk a few weeks ago I swiped it immediately and I’ve been using it multiple times a day to help sooth and repair my patchy eczema flare-ups. And it works! The formula is comprised of three simple ingredients: shea butter, zinc Gluconate and Madecassoside (an active skin care ingredient derived from the centella asiatica plant). - JM
