Dream Creams
If your makeup looks flaky and caked-on only a few hours after application it’s time to kick your powders to the curb. Besides, fresh dewy complexions are the look du jour—switch to creamy cosmetics. Try using a cream eye shadow, blush and highlighter, particularly if you have mature skin.

Second Skin
Switch your daily cream or powder foundation to something more hydrating and breathable like a tinted moisturizer, bb cream or cc cream. It gives skin an extra hit of moisture, evens out skin tone and hides minor blemishes without looking caked on. For an extra hit of moisture look for a blend of shea butter, glycerin, jojoba oil and other skin hydrating ingredients.
Moisture Surge CC Cream Hydrating Colour Corrector Broad Spectrum SPF 30, $49.

You Are What You Eat
Incorporate some monounsaturated fatty acids into your daily diet. Our bodies need this type of fat for healthy skin and cell development. A healthy and tasty way is with a handful of almonds everyday. If you’re worried you might overeat, fill a baggie with 25 per day to keep tabs on your portion control.

Make Time To Mask
During the change of season, flare-ups and dehydrated patches often crop up, especial if you suffer from dry skin. Pamper your skin by giving it a concentrated exposure of humectants with a cream or sheet mask. Look for hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe, honey, yogurt or oatmeal.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask, $30.

Scrub-a-dub dub
Rejuvenate winter blasted skin using a luffah or a natural abrasive exfoliator in the shower. It’s a great way to remove layers of dead skin that tend to accumulate at a faster pass of the cooler months. It also stimulates circulation which prompts new skin cells. When exiting the shower slather a hydrating lotion (or oil) on top of shower moist skin.
L'Occitane En Provence Almond Delicious Paste, $48.

Bulk Up On Balms
Next time you’re in the drugstore load up on inexpensive (yet just as effective) lip balms. Your lips don’t produce sebum so it’s important to keep them hydrated. The trick is buying enough so you have one around at all times- in your purse, gym bag, office drawer, cosmetic bag, bathroom and the car. Don’t lick your lips, saliva dehydrates them, try dabbing on some balm instead. Also, because your lips are so thin try choosing a more natural formula.
EOS Visibly soft lip balm, $4.35.

Oil Rush
Keep showers and baths short and sweet, under five minutes are ideal. Avoid hot water; if it’s too warm it can strip essential oils and moisture from skin. Substitute bath products that have heavy duty fragrances, dyes and soaps for skin-softening oils.
Lipidol After Shower Oil, $9.

The Rub Down
Before bed massage a rich emollient body cream or balm from shoulders to toes. Skin around our joints and feet need extra TLC. Slather the driest areas with a rich treatment, such as salve, then cover them with a pair of cotton socks.
Kiehl's Centella Recovery Skin Salve, $43.
