When in doubt, ask David Suzuki

Many may be thinking that Kermit the Frog said it best when he lamented: "It's not easy being green." But I choose to take an optimistic approach and believe that when it comes to our impact on the environment, some choices are easy to make. If you are finding it hard to make some eco friendly choices, I suggest you turn to a national icon for some help. Dr. David Suzuki hosts a nature challenge on his website that I guarantee will help you. Don't be dismayed by the word challenge. In Dr. Suzuki's words, it's easy, fast, fun and free. Dr. Suzuki and his team have rounded up the most efficient ways to conserve nature when it comes to transportation, food, energy and public action. For instance, should you choose to amend your driving habits, the nature challenge will help you decide if it makes more sense for you to buy a fuel-efficient car, start biking/walking/taking public transit or to simply cut back on your driving. My favourite suggestions come in the food department. I've since been a lot more conscious of the amount of meat I consume and, as a result, have explored a whole new realm of cooking ... vegetarian style. I've also trained my eye to find the words Product of on my purchases, to ensure I'm buying local whenever possible. To learn about going green an easy way, go to www.davidsuzuki.com and sign up for the nature challenge. You'll get a monthly e-newsletter that will include tips, facts and news about eco-friendly living. Let me know what you think!
