Guest blogger: Fellow web editor dishes about her upcoming race!

Today's blog post is by Colleen Tully, Canadian Living's web editor. She's here to tell you all about her upcoming .... I'll just let her tell you. Enjoy!
colleen1.pngAfter being lazy all summer, not exercising much and enjoying crisp, local wine in the sunshine every moment I could, I've decided to run a race. My first race ever. And my charity of choice is WWF (of course!) But this isn't just any race. It's the Nike+ Human Race. 25 major cities across the globe are all officially running this 10k on August 31, and most other cities have groups that are going out on their own to run the 10k just to be a part of the day. Money is officially being raised for WWF, Lance Armstrong and The UN Refugee Agency. Scenes like this freak me out: colleen2.png But so do scenes like this: colleen3.png When I signed up for the Nike+ Human Race it didn't occur to me that you could "Run for the Earth", raising money to help green charities and organizations. I've only ever heard of running for diseases like cancer. I was surprised and pleased to have the choice to select WWF. I'd like to run more races (short ones…I'm no athlete) to raise money for the Earth. In fact, why aren't there more Earth-focused walks and races? Perhaps Canada should start the first one. "Footprints Reducing Carbon Footprints" (You heard it here first!) Canada's official participating city for the Nike+ Human Race is Vancouver where I will be this Sunday. I do work at Canadian Living and eat a lot of Test Kitchen pies and cookies, so I hope I won't come in dead last. But even if I do, it's worth it. I applaud WWF and everything they're doing for our world. Here's my route: colleen4.png Event pictures and notes from my first race ever to come next week. Wish me luck!
