A happy and healthy 2009!
Good day Green Living Blog readers, and a happy New Year to you all! As I was leisurely flipping through Saturday's Globe and Mail today (a day late, as per usual) I saw that the Style section mentioned some green changes to the design world that we should all be on the lookout for this year. Here are a few of them
- StoneRox: A Canadian-made thin veneer that bears a resemblance to cut stone, but is made up of aggregates and cement.
- Green beauty: G & M predicts that in 2009 the beauty industry will grow a bigger eco-conscience, creating products that are natural, ethical and sustainable. Apparently we should be on the lookout for such products from coveted brands like Chanel at some point in 2009.
- Soy foam: Huh? Soy foam? (It's OK, that's what I said). Certain Canadian companies have already started stuffing their couches and beds with this apparently non-toxic product. So, if you're in the market for a new sofa, if wouldn't hurt to ask what it's stuffed with!
- Wind turbines: Can you imagine these suckers in your own backyard? Perhaps for those who live in rural areas, this isn't so hard to imagine, but for us city slickers the thought of this stirs up a chuckle. Philippe Starck, a famous designer, has created a rooftop wind turbine that can generate up to 60 per cent of your home's energy needs.
Well, I guess those are some of the design worlds green resolutions for 2009. What are your New Year's green resolutions?
