Knit a slouchy cowl collar

Easy enough for a beginner to knit, our cowl is this season's favourite grey, but the soft undyed yarn comes in a range of five shades naturally produced by the sheep (find a colour card and your nearest retailer at www.diamondyarn.com).
Finished cowl is 45.5 cm (18 ins) high.
One-size cowl is worked in ribbing throughout. Standard abbreviations are used. Recommended for beginners.
You need:
8 balls (50 g) Sirdar Eco Wool DK pure wool yarn, No. 204 Flint
One 4 mm circular needle, 60 cm long, OR whichever needle you require to produce the tension given below
Tapestry needle
Tension:
22 sts and 28 rows = 10 cm (4 ins) in stocking stitch. Work to exact tension with specified yarn to obtain satisfactory results. TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK TENSION.
To make:
Cast on 300 sts; join in rnd.
Work [k2, p2] ribbing until cowl from beg measures 45.5 cm (18 ins); cast off in rib.
With tapestry needle, weave in ends.
