Up Next: The Birdie Sling Bag
Hi again*, In case you're curious about how I managed to spend all day Saturday cutting out fabric, I should probably admit that I was cutting out more than one project: first
the skirt (which had all of three pieces, six if you count the lining), and then I cut out the pieces for Amy Butler's
Birdie Sling Bag.
(It seems like I'm on an Amy Butler kick right now, doesn't it? There's just something about these patterns and her
latest fabric line that screams "Summer!" to me, I can't help it.)
Cutting out all the pattern pieces took a good long while, because even though I'd decided not to use interfacing and fusible fleece, as the directions call for, I still had to cut out one set in the outer fabric, one set in the lining fabric, and one set in muslin (used instead of the interfacing and fleece). I read about this modification on
Karyn's blog and then talked to her about it at the workroom. She's an awesome seamstress and has made four of these bags already, so she knows her stuff. And I'm glad I took her advice – I'm only a few steps in and I can see that some of these seams are going to be heavy going.
I got started with the sewing last night and I'm about a third of the way through. With any luck it will be finished in time for my farmer's market trip on Saturday. Here's hoping! What are you working on these days? *I meant to post yesterday but ran out of time, so you're getting two posts for the price of one today!
