Made it: Mason jar Christmas tree
If this isn't the cutest Christmas craft that ever cuted a cute, I don't know what is. I'm a big fan of Karen Bertelsen's home décor and craft blog
The Art of Doing Stuff. Karen has built everything from a front-yard urban garden to a backyard chicken coop, and chronicles her ongoing projects--big and small-- in funny and informative posts. Last week, Karen posted this so-simple lighted Mason jar Christmas tree craft made from lights, a Mason jar, a little tree and a final secret ingredient. (You can
get all the details on her blog.)
I bought the supplies form my Mason Jar Christmas tree on memory, but I really should have checked Karen's instructions first. My tree was a little big, and I bought larger twinkle lights instead of the LED lights in Karen's post. Stick with the LEDs -- the standard sized twinkle lights drained the AA batteries in my dollar store pack in just under two hours. In summary: bigger jar, smaller tree, LED lights. Imperfect as it is, the whole thing took under 5 minutes (my kind of crafting), and brightens up a nook in my bookshelf. I think this would also look cute with a small woodland animal ornament swapped in for the tree, too. Now, go get your twinkle on.
