Lighting can make or break a space. Even the most tastefully decorated room can end up looking like a convenience store (or dive bar) if not properly lit. A few strategically placed floor and table lamps are a great way to wrangle your wattage, and wallpaper covers help tie everything together.

You need:
• Scrap paper for template
• Lampshade
• Wallpaper scraps

Tools
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Double-sided tape

To make:
1. Create a template by placing a sheet of scrap paper on your work surface and setting the lampshade on its side on top of the paper.

2. Place the tip of your pencil just below the seam at the top of the shade, and slowly roll the lampshade over the paper, tracing on the paper as you go. Keep your pencil moving along with the shade as it arcs across the paper.

3. Once the shade has made a complete rotation, continue tracing 1/2" beyond the seam to make room for an overlap.

4. Set the shade back at the starting point and repeat the same process, this time with your pencil at the bottom seam of the shade.

5. Use a ruler to connect the ends of the arcs with straight lines.

6. Cut out your template and wrap it around your shade to test the fit.

7. Trace the template on the back side of your wallpaper and carefully cut it out with scissors.

8. Wrap the paper around the shade and adhere it with a thin strip of double-sided tape along the 1/2" seam.
