Hello again! If you've received your
June issue of
Canadian Living or the latest installment of Get Crafty, my
e-newsletter, you'll know that this month we're all about celebrations. June seems to be a month for parties – graduations, bridal and baby showers, weddings, you name it. Of course, parties usually mean gifts, and that's what I had in mind when I was selecting the prizes for this week's giveaway. Whether you use the books as gifts themselves, gain inspiration from their pages, or just page through them while enjoying a glass of iced tea on the porch, I think you'll like these!
First up is a copy of
Stamped Metal Jewelry: Creative Techniques and Designs for Making Custom Jewelry by
Lisa Niven Kelly. Stamped metal jewelry is all the rage right now, and it's not as complicated as you might think – this book gives you a great primer. Imagine making bracelets for all your bridesmaids, or a pair of earrings for that special grad. This book will show you how.
If the fibre arts are more your thing, I think you'll find lots to like in
Gifted: Lovely Little Things to Knit and Crochet by Mags Kandis. The only problem is that you might end up wanting to keep them all for yourself! The ideas range from wearable accessories to home decor, and incorporate a variety of decorative needlework techniques, too. And most of the projects are small – a boon when you're crafting in hot weather!

Print & Stamp Lab by Traci Bunkers will be right up your alley if you are interested in using regular household objects to create one-of-a-kind printed gifts. Follow the directions to make your own stamps, then let your creativity go wild as you personalize journals, recipe cards, wrapping paper...you get the idea.
