8 ways to use up that tub of plain yogurt in your fridge

1. For breakfast.
Layered with fruit, nuts and honey, yogurt will give you plenty of energy for the morning ahead and allow you to make a healthful breakfast in a matter of minutes. For easy transportation, use a sealable jar like we did in this Greek Yogurt and Peach Parfait.

2. In salad dressings
Tangy, creamy yogurt makes a great base for many different types of salad dressings. We love this Greek Yogurt Caesar Dressing to dress up everyday greens, but you can play around with flavours by adding honey, fresh herbs, citrus, mustard or vinegar to your yogurt.

3. In a soup.

A lighter alternative to whipping cream or sour cream, yogurt adds bulk and wonderful texture to cold soups. It pairs especially well with avocado, peas or cucumber, like in this Chilled Dill and Cucumber Soup.

4. In a marinade.

Tossed with meat before grilling, yogurt helps to tenderize protein and is a fantastic candidate for a make-ahead marinade. Try it in our Curried Chicken Skewers (served with a yogurt-based chickpea salad!)

5. In a dipping sauce.

A couple of spoonfuls of yogurt gives dip a lighter texture. For extra flavour, add a little bit of mayonnaise to the yogurt and the seasoning of your choice. It pairs really well with Potato and Salmon Cakes, or simple veggie sticks.

6. In a mash.

We all love mashed potatoes with butter and cream, but adding yogurt makes mashed potatoes more of an everyday side dish. And if you love cauliflower, this Cauliflower Yogurt Puree is right up your alley!

7. In baked treats.

A staple in many baked treats, such as loaves, muffins or cupcakes, yogurt lends itself beautifully to a sweet application. It helps keep baked goods moist, like in these Mini Lemon Pistachio Yogurt Loaves.

8. In ice pops.

To give frozen treats a creamy texture without resorting to making homemade ice cream, add yogurt! We’ve combined mixed berries with yogurt and a little jam to make these Berry Greek Yogurt Pops, but you can also make these with cantaloupe, peaches or mango.
