6 tips for fabulous champagne cocktails
Serve your guests bubbly cocktails worthy of a high-end bar with these simple guidelines.
A holiday fete without champagne? Mais, non! The only thing worse than no bubbly is serving it the wrong way. Here, six tips for mixing champagne cocktails just right and four of our favourite recipes.
1. Chill Champagne before using.
2. Choose a moderately priced Champagne or sparkling wine for mixed drinks. Cava, Prosecco and some good-quality Canadian sparkling wines are more affordable than Champagne, especially for a party, and are delightful.
3. Since Champagne cocktails tend to be on the sweet side, choose a dry (brut) Champagne or sparkling wine.
4. Add the Champagne to the glass last, pouring it slowly over the other ingredients to avoid an overflow of bubbles.
5. Stirring isn’t usually necessary, but if you do, stir slowly and gently to avoid an overflow.
6. Champagne cocktails taste—and look—best when they’re served immediately.
