Method
In small saucepan, bring cider, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg to boil; stir in butter. Set aside.Core apples almost to bottom, leaving base intact. Pare off 3/4-inch (2 cm) wide strip around core at top; trim base to level, if necessary. Stuff dried fruit into each apple cavity. Place in 8-inch (2 L) square glass baking dish; pour cider mixture over top.
Bake, covered, in 375°F (190°C) oven, basting twice, until tender, about 45 minutes. Uncover and bake until sauce is syrupy, about 20 minutes.
Maple Whipped Cream: Whip cream with maple syrup; spoon over apples.
