Toronto sure is Tasty!
Sunday was the Second Harvest's annual Toronto Taste event at the Japanese Cultural Centre. It was a hot humid Toronto night, tents were flapping in the inclement weather but it didn't dampen the appetite of the tasters or the tastees! The best of the Toronto food and drink scene were there showcasing their wares in support of the charitable cause.
Highlights were the Iberico ham from Spain served by Martin Kouprie of Pangaea restaurant, the rustically elegant dish of poached duck eggs on crouton with pork broth, fresh asparagus and crumbled bacon served by Anne Yarymovich of AGO and the very cold Cameron's Cream Ale that Mike Laba was serving in much appreciated generous tastes on a very sultry hot evening.
A Iberico leg of lamb was auctioned off for $2000.00. I must have ate $10.00 worth myself! If you see it on menus make sure you try it, there is nothing like it's nutty porky flavour.
