Add a beautiful finish to the curve by clipping along the curve on the seam allowance.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Turn right side out, reshape, and stitch the mouth of the bag 1\/8\" from the edge, closing the opening.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>6. <\/strong>Affix the mouth of the bag to the kiss lock clasp.<\/p>\n\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n\n<h3>How to add a mini kiss lock clasp<\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Apply wood glue to the inside of the metal kiss lock clasp. Spread the glue evenly inside and along the sides. Insert the mouth of the bag inside the clasp with the eyeleteer.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>2. <\/strong>Cut a piece of paper string slightly shorter than the length of the clasp and stuff it inside. Use the clamp to hold the clutch open. Centre the board on top of the two layers.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> Fold one side of the batting\/fabric over the board. Starting at the middle, secure in place using the staple gun. Repeat on the opposite side and then at the top and bottom. Continue to staple the batting\/fabric to the board along all sides, pulling taut.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>4. <\/strong>Turn the board right-side up and arrange appropriate lengths of ribbon on the board in a crisscross pattern, making sure the spacing between each piece of ribbon is equidistant. Mark the placement of the ribbon on the edge of the board using the pencil.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> One piece at a time, staple the ends of the ribbon to the back of the board, stretching taut. You might choose to use more than one fabric.<\/em>\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<a href=\"http:\/\/storage.quebecormedia.com\/v1\/cl_prod\/canadian_living\/e3125b5b-ee02-4e42-93c0-0d2e597de56c\/ereader_craft_closeup.jpg\"><strong>Take a closer look inside this fun and functional craft. <\/strong><\/a>\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>To make:<\/strong>\n<br \/> \n<strong>1.<\/strong> For Template A: With pencil, trace shape of e-reader onto scrap paper. If desired, align coin with top right and bottom right corners; trace to round corners. Cut out.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>2.<\/strong> For Template B: Repeat Step 1. Use ruler to measure and mark line 1 cm (1\/2 inch) outside traced outline on all four sides. Cut out.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>3.<\/strong> For templates C and D: With ruler, measure length and depth of e-reader. With pencil and ruler, draw two rectangles: Template C rectangle measures length by depth; Template D measures length plus 2 cm (3\/4 inch) by depth. Cut out.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>4.<\/strong> Trace templates onto book board, making two each of templates A and B, and one each of templates C and D. Cut out.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>5.<\/strong> Cut fabric in half; place, right side down, on work surface.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>The inside cover:<\/strong>\n<br \/> \n<strong>6.<\/strong> \n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadianliving.com\/moms\/fun\/crafts_and_toys_for_kids_free_fun_and_educational.php\"><strong>Make inside cover<\/strong><\/a>: On one fabric half, leaving about 10 cm (4-inch) border of fabric at top, bottom and sides, and using yardstick to align, arrange book board pieces A and C from left to right, with 1 cm (1\/2-inch) space between pieces, as follows: one A piece, rounded corners facing left; the C piece, short edge at bottom; and the second A piece, rounded corners facing right.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>7.<\/strong> Using paintbrush and working quickly from left to right, apply thin layer of glue to wrong side of each piece of book board. Place glued side of book board onto wrong side of fabric, pressing firmly. Flip over and smooth out wrinkles, if necessary. Replace, right side down, on work surface.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>8.<\/strong> Working quickly and starting with corners then proceeding to sides, brush thin layer of glue onto wrong side of fabric border. Fold glued fabric over book board and press firmly. Mitre corners if necessary for neatness.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>To make the outside cover:<\/strong>\n<br \/> \n<strong>9.<\/strong> Make outside cover: Repeat steps 6 to 8 with remaining fabric and book board pieces B and D, leaving at least 10 cm (4 inches) border of fabric at top, bottom and sides, and 6 mm (1\/4 inch) between pieces.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>10.<\/strong> Layer glued covers between sheets of waxed paper on flat surface; cover with heavy weights. Let dry completely.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>11.<\/strong> From elastic, cut four 10 cm (4-inch) lengths and one 25 cm (10-inch) length.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>12.<\/strong> Place one short length of elastic diagonally across each corner of right panel of inside cover. Using darning needle, push two elastic ends through fabric approx 1-1\/2 inches (4 cm) from top and bottom of inside edge. Place long elastic vertically along right edge. Affix all elastic ends to back of book board with dab of glue.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>13.<\/strong> Apply glue to wrong side of inside cover and place atop wrong side of outside cover, aligning centre pieces and ensuring border is even. Layer between sheets of waxed paper; cover with weights. Repeat with second felt sheet.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>2.<\/strong> Using glue stick, generously apply glue to front cover of notebook, especially at edges. Align edges of trimmed felt piece with edges of front cover of notebook; adhere felt. Repeat with second piece of felt and back cover of notebook. Measure and mark three lines lengthwise on felt, each 5.5 cm (2&frac14; inches) apart. Cut along marked lines to make four strips from each sheet.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>4.<\/strong> Create fringe by snipping into strips at 5 mm (&frac14;-inch) intervals, stopping cuts 5 mm (&frac14; inch) from top of each strip.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>5.<\/strong> Using hot glue gun, apply glue along top edge of one strip of fringe. Adhere strip to front of notebook, with fringe side aligned with edge closest to book opening. Repeat three times, overlapping glued edge of previous strip with fringe of next strip, to create layers (top of final strip should meet spine of notebook). Repeat with four remaining strips on back of notebook.\n<br \/> \n<br \/> \n<strong>6.<\/strong> Trim one long scrap of felt from Step 1 to length of notebook. The light-blue striped fabric adds more interest than plain white cotton.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>MATERIALS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>\u2022 Iron-on transfer paper&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022&nbsp;Ink-jet printer&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 Printable laundry-symbols chart&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 Iron&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 Cotton pillowcase&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 Measuring tape&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 Tailor's chalk<br>\n\u2022 Scissors&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 Liquid seam sealant&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 1\/2-inch x 7-foot rope&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 Rope cutters&nbsp;<br>\n\u2022 Twine<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>HOW TO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Following the transfer-paper manufacturer's directions, print <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadianliving.com\/home-and-garden\/organization-and-cleaning\/article\/3-helpful-tips-that-will-make-your-laundry-room-more-efficient\">the laundry<\/a>-symbols chart onto the transfer paper. Iron the chart onto the front of the pillowcase, with the top of the chart parallel to the cuff.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>2. <\/strong>Measure 1\/2&nbsp;inch from the right-side seam of the cuff, and use the tailor's chalk to mark the fabric on each side, halfway between the top and bottom of the cuff. Cut through the outer layer of fabric to make a 1-inch vertical slit at each marked point. (These are the openings for the&nbsp;drawstring.)<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>3. <\/strong>Apply a small amount of the seam sealant along the cut edges to prevent fraying. Let dry.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>4. <\/strong>Feed the rope through the cuff to make a drawstring; cut the rope to the desired length for hanging and carrying.
